Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask us about delivery, warranty, brands and choosing the right light. If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp and a real person will answer.
Delivery and shipping
Our own delivery fleet reaches most Qatar addresses in as fast as 3 hours from order confirmation, subject to product availability and your address. Where we use our third-party courier partner, delivery is typically 6 to 8 hours from order confirmation.
Yes. All orders are dispatched from our warehouse in Qatar, and our own fleet is available for most Qatar addresses. Delivery time depends on product availability and how far the address is from our warehouse.
Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout based on your delivery destination, the weight and size of your order, and the carrier selected. The exact cost is always shown before you complete payment, so you will never be charged a shipping fee you have not seen and agreed to first.
Yes. We ship to a defined list of more than 40 countries across the GCC, the wider Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America. You will see whether we ship to your country at checkout, based on your delivery address.
For the GCC, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, orders typically arrive in 2 to 4 business days. For all other confirmed destinations, transit is typically 7 to 10 business days including handling. In-stock orders are usually prepared within 24 hours of confirmation.
For GCC deliveries we use Aramex and DHL. For other international destinations we use DHL, UPS and FedEx. Inside Qatar we use our own delivery fleet or our third-party courier partner.
Possibly. Your local customs authority may apply import duties, taxes or fees when your order arrives. These are not included in our shipping charge and are the responsibility of the customer. We recommend checking your country's import rules before ordering, particularly for electronic and battery-containing products.
Yes. Once your order ships you will receive a tracking number by email so you can follow its progress with the carrier directly.
If your order has not arrived within the estimated window, contact us at info@lightingsouq.com or on WhatsApp and we will investigate with the carrier on your behalf.
Genuine products and warranty
Yes. Lighting Souq is an authorised reseller and distributor of established lighting brands including Philips, OSRAM and LEDVANCE, and we hold direct distributor or dealership agreements with select manufacturers. Every product we list is sourced through authorised channels.
Yes. We are an authorised reseller of Philips, OSRAM and LEDVANCE, and we hold direct distributor agreements with select manufacturers. We are also the brand owner for Vettam, Wink and Glint, which are manufactured to our specifications. Lighting Souq is certified under Qatar's Theqa program.
Theqa is Qatar's Ministry-backed authentication mark. It verifies that a business is registered, trustworthy and compliant with Qatari e-commerce regulation. It means you are buying from a business that has been checked, not an anonymous seller. Our Theqa certification is displayed on our site.
It depends on the brand. Products from brands where we hold an official distributor or dealership agreement, including Philips, OSRAM, LEDVANCE and Inventronics, come with a 1-year manufacturer warranty from the date of delivery. Vettam, Wink and Glint products also carry a 1-year warranty. For other products we do not offer an extended warranty beyond the 24-hour damaged or defective window. The applicable warranty is stated on each product page.
We do. For distributor-agreement brands we handle claims directly on the manufacturer's behalf, and for Vettam, Wink and Glint our customer service team handles them. You do not need to deal with an overseas manufacturer.
Email info@lightingsouq.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or video if possible. We will confirm whether the product is covered and arrange a repair, replacement or manufacturer referral as applicable.
Normal wear and tear; damage from misuse, improper installation or unauthorised repair; damage from power surges, incorrect voltage or electrical installation not carried out by a qualified electrician; and cosmetic damage that does not affect function and is reported after the 24-hour delivery inspection window.
Payment, pricing and orders
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and regional debit methods including NAPS and KNET through MyFatoorah, plus PayPal and Telr. Pay Later installment options are available where offered.
Yes. All card and payment data is processed directly by our payment providers over encrypted, PCI DSS-compliant connections. Lighting Souq does not store your full card details.
Prices are shown in Qatari Riyal (QAR) by default. You can switch the displayed currency using the currency selector on the site.
No. For international orders, any import duties, taxes or fees applied by your local customs authority are separate from our shipping charge and are the responsibility of the customer.
Our prices are for genuine stock sourced through authorised channels, held in our warehouse in Qatar, and backed by a team you can reach. For distributor-agreement brands that includes a 1-year manufacturer warranty we handle ourselves. A marketplace listing may be a grey import with no warranty support in Qatar and no one to call. That difference is what you are paying for.
You can cancel free of charge at any time before your order has been dispatched. Contact us as soon as possible at info@lightingsouq.com or on WhatsApp. Once an order has been handed to the carrier it can no longer be cancelled, though you may still be eligible for a return under our returns policy once it arrives.
Where an item is out of stock we display an estimated restock or lead time on the product page, typically 4 to 6 weeks for items awaiting resupply. We may limit quantities per customer or per order to keep availability fair.
Yes. For project and bulk quantities we quote project pricing. Send your list through the bulk orders page and our team will come back with pricing and stock availability.
Returns, refunds and cancellations
Once a smart lighting or electronic product has been opened, installed or used, we are unable to accept a change-of-mind return, in the same way consumer electronics like smartphones typically cannot be returned once activated. This protects both our customers and us from the safety issues of reselling used electrical products.
If a product is still sealed in its original, unopened packaging, contact us within 48 hours of delivery and we will assess the request case by case. An approved return of an unopened item may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 10% to cover handling and repackaging, deducted from your refund.
Contact us within 24 hours of receiving your delivery. We will arrange, at no cost to you, a replacement unit, a repair where applicable under manufacturer warranty, or a full refund if a replacement or repair is not possible.
Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 7 to 10 working days of approval.
No, not for a refund arising from a damaged, defective or incorrect item. For an approved return of an unopened, non-defective item, a restocking fee of up to 10% may apply.
Email info@lightingsouq.com or contact us on WhatsApp with your order number and a brief description of the issue. Our team responds within a few hours during support hours, Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 6pm Qatar time.
Yes. If a free gift or promotional item was included with your order and you return the main product, the free gift or promotional item must be returned as well.
Contact us on WhatsApp with your order number and the fitting you actually need. If the item is still sealed in its original packaging, contact us within 48 hours of delivery and we will assess an exchange. Once a bulb has been opened or installed we cannot accept it back. To avoid this, send us a photo of the old bulb or fitting before ordering and we will confirm the right match.
Choosing the right light
The base is the part that connects to the fitting. The most common are E27 (large screw), E14 (small screw), B22 (bayonet, push and twist), GU10 (twist-lock spotlight) and G9 (small pin). The easiest way is to take out the old bulb and read the code printed on it, or send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will identify it.
It is the colour temperature, measured in Kelvin. Warm white (around 2700K to 3000K) is a soft, yellow-toned light suited to living rooms, bedrooms and majlis. Neutral white (around 4000K) is balanced and suits kitchens and bathrooms. Cool white or daylight (5000K to 6500K) is crisp and bright and suits offices, shops, garages and task areas.
LED bulbs use far fewer watts for the same brightness, so compare lumens rather than watts. As a rough guide, a 60W incandescent is about 800 lumens, which an LED delivers at around 8W to 10W. A 100W incandescent is about 1600 lumens, or roughly 15W to 18W in LED.
Lumens measure how much light you get. Watts measure how much electricity is used. With old incandescent bulbs the two moved together, so people learned to shop by watts. With LED they do not, so lumens is the number to compare when you want to know how bright a bulb will be.
Look for the IP rating. IP65 or higher is suitable for outdoor use exposed to rain and dust, and IP44 is suitable for covered areas like a porch or balcony. In Qatar also consider heat: our outdoor and solar ranges are selected for high ambient temperatures.
Yes. Qatar has strong, consistent sunlight, which is close to ideal for solar lighting. Solar lights need no mains wiring, which makes them practical for gardens, driveways, compound walls and villa perimeters. Panel placement matters most: keep the panel in direct sun and clear of dust for the best runtime.
Warm white (2700K to 3000K) suits a majlis because it is comfortable for long sitting and flatters the room. Many customers combine a decorative central fitting with dimmable downlights or smart bulbs so the same room can go from bright for guests to soft in the evening.
No. Only bulbs marked dimmable can be dimmed, and they also need a compatible dimmer switch. Putting a non-dimmable LED on a dimmer causes flicker, buzzing and early failure, and that is not a manufacturing defect, so it is not covered by warranty. Check the product page for dimmable and ask us if you are unsure which dimmer to use.
CRI (Colour Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light shows colours, on a scale to 100. For most homes, CRI 80 or above is fine. If colour accuracy matters, in a retail display, a gallery, a salon or a wardrobe area, look for CRI 90 or above.
LED lamps are typically rated for tens of thousands of hours, far longer than incandescent or halogen. Real life depends on heat, switching frequency and the quality of the driver. Enclosed fittings and high ambient heat shorten life, which is worth remembering in Qatar.
Yes. We carry a range of solar-powered lighting and sustainable energy products designed to reduce both electricity costs and environmental impact, including solar street, garden and flood lighting.
Smart lighting and smart home
No, not to start. Smart bulbs screw into your existing fittings and connect over WiFi, so you can make a room smart in minutes. Rewiring only comes in if you choose smart wall switches, which replace the existing switch and should be fitted by a qualified electrician. Damage from installation not carried out by a qualified electrician is not covered by warranty.
Yes. Our Wink, Xiaomi, Yeelight, Sonoff and Philips Hue ranges all work with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control. Philips Hue also works with Apple HomeKit.
Yes, with one caveat. Most brands work together through Alexa or Google Home, so you can control them by voice and in the same routines. What does not happen is a device from one brand joining another brand's hub: a Wink bulb will not join a Philips Hue Bridge, and a Yeelight will not join the Mi hub. If you are planning a mixed setup, tell us what you already have and we will confirm what works with it.
It depends on the brand. Wink and Sonoff devices use the Tuya or Smart Life app, Xiaomi uses the Mi Home app, Philips Hue uses the Hue app, and Yeelight uses the Yeelight app. Most can then be linked into Alexa or Google Home so you control everything from one place by voice.
The switch on the wall still works, so you will not be left in the dark. App and voice control need the internet, and scheduled routines that depend on the cloud will pause until the connection returns.
For our WiFi-based ranges, no. Wink, Xiaomi, Yeelight and Sonoff devices connect straight to your home WiFi. Philips Hue is the exception: its full range works best with the Hue Bridge.
Yes. Because these are WiFi devices connected through their app, you can switch lights on and off and change schedules from anywhere with an internet connection.
Start with one room and one type of device, usually smart bulbs, and add from there. Our Smart Home Hub page explains what works with what so you buy the right thing first. If you would rather ask, message us on WhatsApp and describe the room.
Bulk, trade and projects
Yes. Since 2018 we have supplied homes, offices, hospitality venues and businesses across Qatar and the wider region, with project pricing and stock availability confirmed before you commit.
Send your list through the bulk orders page or message us on WhatsApp. Include quantities, specifications and your timeline, and our team will come back with pricing and availability. Our team is available Sunday to Thursday.
Yes. Send us the drawings, the existing fittings, or simply photos of the site, and our team will help match the right lamps, fittings and control gear. This is where most project problems start, matching a driver or ballast to a lamp, and it is worth getting right before you order.
For project quantities we confirm stock and lead times as part of the quote. If an item needs to be brought in we will tell you the timeline upfront rather than after you order. Items awaiting resupply typically show a 4 to 6 week lead time.
Often, yes. For project and bulk orders we source beyond our listed range. Send us the brand and product details and our team will confirm whether we can get it and how long it will take.
Yes. All orders are dispatched from our warehouse in Qatar and we deliver to site using our own fleet or our courier partner. Tell us the site access and timing constraints when you order.
