LEDVANCE is one of the largest general lighting companies in the world, and it began life as part of Osram. In 2016 Osram carved out its general lighting lamp business, the division that made LED, halogen and compact fluorescent lamps, and it became a legally independent company under the LEDVANCE name. The business is headquartered in Garching bei Munchen in Germany, operates in more than 140 countries, and has been wholly owned by the Chinese lighting company MLS since April 2018.
LEDVANCE is also the exclusive licensee of the Osram brand for general lighting lamps, an agreement extended in September 2024 and expanded to cover general lighting luminaires outside mainland China. In practice that means LEDVANCE makes both the LEDVANCE-branded and the Osram-branded lamps you buy today. Its range covers LED lamps and tubes, flood and outdoor lighting, luminaires, smart home products and traditional light sources.
