Vossloh-Schwabe, usually shortened to VS, is a German manufacturer of lighting components. It started making lampholders for light bulbs in 1919, added magnetic ballasts in the 1940s and ignitors for discharge lamps in the 1960s, and today its range runs from LED modules, drivers and optics to the conventional ballasts, ignitors and lampholders that keep older installations working.
VS was part of the Panasonic group from 2002, and in 2020 Panasonic transferred the business to Fidelium Partners, which returned it to independence. It is headquartered in Germany and supplies luminaire manufacturers and electrical distributors in more than 90 countries. Like Tridonic, VS is a component maker rather than a fitting maker, which is why the name is familiar to electricians and unknown to almost everyone else.
