GE Lighting has been headquartered at Nela Park in East Cleveland, Ohio for close to 130 years, and for more than a century the GE name on a bulb was one of the most recognised marks in the industry.
The business has changed hands. In 2020 GE sold GE Lighting to Savant Systems, a smart home company, and it now trades as GE Lighting, a Savant company, continuing to use the GE brand under a long-term licensing agreement. The Nela Park headquarters stayed. What that means for a buyer is simple: a GE-branded bulb today is a genuine GE-brand product, made by the business that has always made them, under a different owner.
