About Tungsram
Tungsram is one of the great names in lighting history. Founded in Hungary in 1896, it took its name from tungsten and wolfram, the two names for the metal used in lamp filaments, and the brand was registered in 1909. Its engineers were behind two genuine milestones: the tungsten filament lamp, patented in 1904 by Sandor Just and Franjo Hanaman, and the krypton-filled bulb, invented by Imre Brody in 1934. GE acquired a majority stake in 1990, and the business returned to Hungarian ownership in 2018.
Tungsram Group went into liquidation in 2022 and production has stopped. The lamps we hold are genuine remaining stock, and once they are gone they cannot be reordered. If you need a lamp you will be able to replace like for like in future, our LEDVANCE and Osram ranges are the ones to look at.
What we stock from Tungsram
We currently hold nine Tungsram products: compact fluorescent and specialist lamps, and electronic transformers for low-voltage lighting. These are the last of our Tungsram stock and cannot be reordered. For a like-for-like alternative, or if you are matching a lamp to existing gear, tell our team what you are replacing and we will point you at the closest current equivalent.

It depends on the lamp. Tell our team the type, wattage and base, or send a photo, and we will point you at the closest current equivalent from LEDVANCE, Osram or another range we stock. For Tungsram electronic transformers, the Osram ET-LED range is usually the closest match.
