A PIR bulb detects body heat moving across its field of view, so it needs a reasonably clear line of sight and works best where people walk past it. A radar bulb detects movement using microwaves, which pass through thin materials, so it can sense motion through a lampshade or a light fitting and reacts to movement in any direction. PIR suits corridors and entrances; radar suits enclosed fittings and stairwells.
It charges while the power is on and stays lit when the power fails, so a room keeps working light during an outage. It is a B22 bayonet bulb in 6500K daylight. It is not a substitute for a certified emergency lighting system, which is a life safety installation and must be specified and installed by a qualified electrician.
